What is a Pinion Pin? It is a product to keep fabric pieces together and organized! I saw this in action recently and was very impressed. When sewing for a quilt project and you have a stack of cut out pieces, it is easy for them to get knocked down or separated. This little item, in two parts, will come together to keep them organized. When it is time to separate them, just tap (with some force) the tool on the top and it separates. It is similar to those impossible to remove tags that are on clothing before you purchase them. These come apart easily with a firm “tap”.
Here is a photo of the packaging.

Pinion Pins
The other photos are the pins in action. This project had a lot of pieces already cut and some assembly had been done. When she left the project, she Pinion pinned them together and keep them pinned until she could sew on them again.

Project, top side shown
This is the top of the pin. This is the side that gets tapped with the unlocking tool. There are about a dozen parts held together with this pin. It will hold many more, too.
Here is the front and the back of the pin.

Pinion front and back
The clear disc is flat. The top is about half an inch. The tool is about 2-3 inches and to release the hold, the top gets tapped firmly and it comes apart.
If you leave projects, as I do sometimes, it is nice to know it will not get separated! Happy Sewing!
