Inspiration happens at unexpected moments sometimes. Recently I was sewing with some fabric from The Blank Quilting Corp. and was thrilled to find these cute selvedges. The new line, Route 66, which ships in January, will have the US Highway emblem in a variety of colors along the selvedge. If you are one of those people who never wastes fabric (and I hope you are) you will love to use these cute emblems for creative projects.
How delighted I was to find that the Symphony Suite line used treble clefs to show off the colors for that line. How great for those music lovers in our lives! Here is a peek at those.
There are several projects available in the marketplace which use selvedges. I have not used one of those projects yet, but seeing these cute ones makes me want to try it! Don’t you agree?
Starting with a focus fabric, it is possible to use the colors on the selvedge edge to choose tone on tone fabrics to make a quilt. Many times a focus fabric has a large variety of colors used in it. Using this method can allow a quilter, who is not confident with their own abilities, to choose fabrics, to do so with confidence. Then the focus fabric can become the border or backing.
