Perennial Plumes Perennial Plumes was designed by Mary M. Corcoran who was inspired by a quilt in the collection of the North Carolina Museum of History. The original red and green quilt, called Tulip and Plume, was made by Julia A. Pearce between 1880 and 1900. Staying true to the large four-block format, this 82″ X 82″ adaptation was created in Island Batik fabric and introduced a new setting. The color palette was designed to highlight the change of seasons, which was reinforced by placing the phases of the moon in the border corners.
